Dictionary: Absolute value
The absolute value of a number is its distance from zero on the number line — always non-negative.
|x| = x if x ≥ 0, and -x if x < 0
Absolute value ignores the sign: |-5| = 5 and |5| = 5.
Examples: |7| = 7 · |-3| = 3 · |0| = 0
Mathematics is the music of reason.
